For the 2025 ROOM Diseño Awards, Mareo Rodriguez received the Art Award for his sculptural work combining light, material, and spatial form. The jury cited his ability to move between “wild nature” and “premeditated artificiality,” using the crack as both structure and symbol. The award recognizes Rodriguez’s role in shaping contemporary art through a language rooted in architecture, geology, and digital process.

For the headquarters of Sandstorm Gold, a Vancouver-based gold streaming and royalty company, Mareo Rodriguez contributed sculptural wall pieces inspired by geological strata and core sampling. Installed throughout the space, his works complement the building’s use of copper, rammed earth, and native stone.

For the INOTA Festival, Hungary’s immersive audiovisual event set in the decommissioned Inota thermal power plant, Rodriguez created “PORTALS,” a site-specific installation inside a 60-meter-high concrete cooling tower. A vertical fissure of light transformed the concrete structure into a monumental “portal.”

For the IV Istanbul Triennial, held under the theme Borders and Walls as Heterotopic Spaces, Rodriguez installed a site-specific light work in the Yedikule Dungeons. Suspended from the vaulted ceiling into a mirrored pool, the vertical beam physically linked the dungeon’s upper and lower parts while symbolizing the divide—and connection—between Europe and Asia.

Part of an international group exhibition featuring over a dozen artists, WAVELENGTH at the Times Art Museum showcased Rodriguez’s sculptural intervention within a shared exploration of sensory perception. The presentation connected Beijing and Chengdu under themes of vision, perspective, imagination, and foresight.

Commissioned by Artrepublical and the digital art platform SuperRare, “ILLUMIA” debuted during Miami Art Week 2021 and was inaugurated by Deepak Chopra. The LED monolith, animated in collaboration with Ivan Cruz, functions as a contemplative portal into the void, drawing on Rodriguez’s interest in sacred space, light, and transformation.

Mareo Rodriguez’s installation “We Are” was featured in the 2019 Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival, a platform dedicated to cross-cultural dialogue and innovation in contemporary Islamic art. Created in collaboration with Diana Rodriguez and Ramiro Quartz, the work explores themes of cultural identity and collective belonging.

Carré Latin brought Latin American contemporary art to the arcades of Paris’s Palais Royal as part of the cultural programming surrounding FIAC Art Week (Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain). Rodriguez was one of over 30 featured artists who transformed the site into an open-air gallery spotlighting Latin America’s emerging and established talents.

Presented at the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival (SIAF) in 2018, Rodriguez’s “Desert Skins” was installed at the Sharjah Museum, a leading cultural institution in the United Arab Emirates. Created in collaboration with Chechu Pajares and Franco Méndez, the work responded to the festival’s theme, “Horizon,” which invited new perspectives on Islamic art.

Commissioned by the Pacefuturo Foundation and organized under the Arte nel Bosco land art initiative, Emerging Topographies featured site-specific works around the Sanctuary of Banchette. Mareo Rodriguez’s sculpture engaged the forest environment, using local materials to create a temporary work in dialogue with the land and its communal artist setting.
